The Washington DC Couture Wedding Consortium Announces
its 1st Annual Charity Wedding
Washington, DC – While most Americans still associate
September 11 with tragedy and loss, the professionals
and companies in the Washington DC Couture Wedding Consortium
are working to make a change.
Starting this year, September 11 will be a happy memory
for Elizabeth Hopfinger and Jeff Thompson. The couple
could not afford a wedding until the Consortium heard
about their story.
“We believe that making happy memories is the best way
to deal with the painful history associated with that
date”, says Katie Martin, member and spokesperson for
the Consortium. “By helping a couple celebrate their union,
we are in a small way honoring those whose lives were
changed in 2001 and, at the same time, hoping that better
September elevens will be in our future”.
When they exchange vows at the Arts Club of Washington,
Elizabeth and Jeff will have behind them a dream team
of wedding professionals from the Consortium, all of them
donating products and services that go from photography
to catering, including event planning, videography, Dolce
& Gabbana dress, music, flowers, cake, stationery, hair
and make-up, and even the wedding rings.
The Washington DC Couture Weddings Consortium was founded
in 2001 and includes more than 30 members representing
different wedding products, services and venues. For more
